
february 2, 2008 after all the hype on patricia field’s barbie line, which launched last month, i finally got the chance to see her section in person in Macy’s Herald Square. in love with the barbie profile design on wallets and blouses, i found the played out patterned track jackets to be out of sync with the rest of the line and their price tags- for $108, i expect a creative design or trendy sleeves or pockets that just weren’t there. overall, the clothes didn’t scream “barbie” to me, and i think so much more could have been done visually to create a stronger brand image. nothing caught my eye to keep me from walking to betsey johnson’s section, where i spent much more time browsing.
